CIC “Completely in the Canal”

CIC Hearing Aids are the smallest aids available. They sit

far inside the ear canal and are virtually invisible. They are

often red and blue, to indicate which ear they belong in.

These hearing aids can fit anyone, barring the most extreme

losses. With the new Rhapsody technology from NuEar they

are virtually feedback free.

OTE “Over the Ear”

The OTE is best suited for people with high frequency losses.

The open fitting allows for low tones to pass naturally into the

ear canal which eliminates the feeling of being “plugged up”.

This hearing aid is also virtually invisible and many of our

patients feel this is the most comfortable type of hearing aid

available. This type of aid can only be digital technology.

NuEar’s Ultralite Rhapsody product is by far the best OTE

product we have ever fit in our offices.

ITE “In the Ear”

In the ear hearing aids are best for people with arthritis, loss of

feeling in the fingers, or trouble with their vision. The large size

allows for a very large battery. The larger battery also lasts

much longer. ITE hearing aids are available at the Hearing Aid

Center in all types of circuitry, from Class A Analog all the way up

to Rhapsody 1600 digital technology.

ITC “In the Canal”

In the Canal hearing aids are slightly more visible than CIC hearing aids. They also are available in all varieties of circuitry from Class A Analog to Rhapsody technology.

BTE “Behind the Ear”

The Behind the Ear hearing aid is an extremely versatile option. Because of its size it is ideal for people with extreme losses. Generally a BTE has a clear tube attached to an ear mold which is custom fit to the ear. Other times an open fitting, similar to the OTE earpiece shown above, is used for high frequency losses. This allows the wearer to have a volume control and some extra program features. Children are fitted with BTE hearing aids and a new ear piece made regularly.
